LSU football has plenty of star power heading into the 2023 season. Few are more talented than wide receiver Malik Nabers on the offensive side of the ball. He was one of the best players on the field in 2022 and could be in for an even bigger season in 2023. Now, heading into next season, NFL teams are beginning to take notice as Pro Football Focus names him as a player to know for the 2024 NFL draft.
LSU football star wide receiver named a player to know for the 2024 NFL draft
Heading into the 2022 season, there was one name people had their eyes on regarding the pass catchers on the team. That name was Kayshon Boutte, the former Freshman All-American and 2022 preseason All-American. Still, while he had a good season, it ended up being Malik Nabers who was the star of the show, racking up over 1,000 yards on the season.
Nabers might have played so well in 2022 as to put his name in the first-round conversation for 2024. He’s lucky to find himself in an era where wide receivers are highly valued. The position is chosen higher in every draft in hopes of finding the next great pass catcher. Who knows, for some NFL team, Nabers could be just that.
That’s precisely why it wasn’t all that surprising when PFF included him on their list of wide receivers to keep an eye on for the 2024 NFL draft. Here is what they had to say regarding Nabers as an NFL prospect:
“Nabers was a monster after the catch this year, as his 21 forced missed tackles on receptions were the fifth most among Power Five receivers. Nabers’ 204 receiving yards after contact were also eighth in the Power Five.”
He did just about everything for the Tigers this past season. Whether taking a screen and making a defender miss or jumping over them to make a catch, he was nearly impossible to stop. He even took a couple of hand-offs for big chunks of yards.
Malik Nabers is the kind of player who will make just about any team that drafts him better for it. He will make an impact on any offense; all they have to do is get him the ball.
