Despite some recently poor showings from the class of 2025 LSU football recruiting efforts, Brian Kelly appears to once again have things moving in a positive direction, landing a Monday commitment from four-star linebacker Zach Weeks – the younger brother of current Tiger linebackers Whit and West Weeks.
LSU football recruiting class of 2025 lands commitment from four-star linebacker Zach Weeks
For the third time since Brian Kelly joined the LSU football recruiting efforts in 2021, the Tigers have officially landed a commitment from a Weeks brother.
Class of 2021 linebacker West Weeks first got things started heading into the 2022 season, announcing his decision to transfer from Virginia to the purple and gold following his freshman year. As it would turn out, Baton Rouge, LA, left quite the impact on his family, as class of 2023 linebacker Whit Weeks followed his brother’s lead just one season later.
Now, as we look ahead to the future of Tiger football under the veteran head coach, he still appears to have some high standing within the family, as class of 2025 linebacker Zach Weeks most recently announced that he will be the third Weeks brother to make his way towards a future in Tiger Stadium.
A 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker out of Watkinsville, GA, Weeks ranks as the No. 220 player nationally, according to 247Sports, as well as No. 14 among linebackers in the class of 2026. Important to note, however, is that while he’s currently rated among class of 2026 talent, he will also look to reclassify to the 2025 cycle, which will ultimately allow him to play alongside at least one of his brothers – Whit Weeks – next college football season.
The youngest of the three brothers most recently made his way over to Baton Rouge over the weekend to watch the Tigers’ 24-17 victory over SEC foe Vanderbilt. While it wasn’t the most dominant showing we’ve seen from Brian Kelly’s squad in recent memory, it was a gritty win, and one that showed that this team hasn’t given up on this season or their coaching staff. Even better, it clearly left recruits feeling confident about where things are moving.
Assuming his reclassification goes through, the four-star linebacker is now one of 26 players to have committed to the purple and gold this cycle, holding them strong with the No. 6 group nationally. While his overall ranking as a recruit can be expected to drop with the jump up in cycles, he’s still an excellent addition to what is already being viewed as one of the best recruiting classes in the entire country.
