Sometimes, hanging up your cleats can be much easier said than done. For LSU football legend Leonard Fournette, it sounds like he isn’t entirely done yet. Earlier today, news broke that the 28-year-old veteran running back would return to the NFL after signing to the Buffalo Bills practice squad.

When considering the best running back in Tiger history, it’s not uncommon for LSU football legend Leonard Fournette to enter the conversation.

In his three years donning the purple and gold, he was about as dominant as it gets. Over his entire career, he recorded 616 carries for 3,830 yards and 40 touchdowns.

He averaged 6.2 yards per carry during his time in Baton Rouge and constantly showed an impressive display of strength and speed.

Naturally, this level of talent translated immediately to the NFL, as he’s proven to be a reliable piece to multiple NFL teams over his six-year career. Most notably, the LSU football legend put up two 1,000-yard seasons in his three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now, after entering the 2023 season as a free agent, he’s decided to lace up his cleats once more, this time for the Buffalo Bills.

Over his six seasons in the NFL, the veteran has recorded 1,132 carries for 4,478 yards and 34 touchdowns.

While he’s likely not quite in peak shape, the 6-foot, 228-pound running back has plenty of experience and can provide wisdom for a Buffalo Bills team that likely hopes to make a run at the Super Bowl in 2023.

Fournette is already a Super Bowl champion, having won with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady in 2020, so he should provide excellent experience and productivity to an already stellar team in Buffalo.
