Coach Brian Kelly’s squad is in the midst of a race to the SEC Championship, but that hasn’t slowed them down one bit on the recruiting trail. Earlier today, five-star class of 2026 linebacker recruit Tyler Atkinson announced his top-10 and included LSU football on his list.

We haven’t even seen the end of the class of 2024, but the recruiting world never stops. That means you have to start recruiting kids as early as possible, projecting what they might look like years down the road.

For LSU football, they haven’t skipped out on that step, and it shows. The Tigers are already top contenders for several elite class of 2026 recruits, including five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson.

Earlier today, the elite Georgia recruit announced his top-10, including LSU football, among several other big-time SEC programs.

While there’s plenty we don’t know about the class of 2026 up to this point, there’s little doubt that Tyler Atkinson has star potential. Standing at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, he already has college size and plays like it on the football field.

In 2022, the Loganville, GA, recruit tallied 112 total tackles, 22 of which were for a loss. Furthermore, in 2021, he became the first 8th grader to be invited to the All-American Bowl, a game that has historically been dedicated to the best high school football players in the country.

LSU football will battle several top programs for his talents, including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida State.
