While there’s still months until basketball official visit season begins, coach Matt McMahon is wasting no time in filling up his fall schedule. Earlier this week, four-star class of 2025 point guard Jalen Reece reportedly scheduled a trip with LSU basketball towards late September.
Four-star class of 2025 point guard Jalen Reece locks in official visit to Baton Rouge
After a second straight season of missing out on the NCAA Tournament, coach Matt McMahon is recruiting like a mad man, going after some of the top players nationally in each recruiting cycle.
In the class of 2024, the purple and gold signed several talented first-year players including three four-star recruits and the No. 4 JUCO player nationally. Now, as focus begins to shift to the 2025 recruiting cycle, the Tigers are already filling up their fall schedule, as four-star point guard Jalen Reece most recently scheduled an official visit to Baton Rouge for September 21, according to Joe Tipton of On3.
Officially listed as a 5-foot-10, 170-pound point guard out of Orlando, FL, Reece is rated as the No. 76 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as No. 12 at his position.
As a junior for Oak Ridge High School, the talented point guard was about as good as any at distributing the ball, while holding strong as a scoring threat. Averaging 15.4 points, 7.7 steals, 3.8 rebounds and an impressive 3.3 steals per game in 2023, he showed the ability to make an impact on both offense and defense, only further emphasizing his four-star rating.
Following his most recent scheduling of an official visit to Baton Rouge, Reece is notably a current favorite to eventually land with the Tigers, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, while Cincinnati, Providence and Ohio State remain in the hunt as well.
LSU basketball doesn’t yet have any commits in the class of 2025, but with official visit season just around the corner, don’t be surprised if we start to see some solid movement in the not too distant future.
