LSU football four-star defensive back target announces commitment date

Defensive back has been an emphasis for Brian Kelly and the LSU coaching staff throughout the class of 2024. Now, the Tigers should have some clarity at the position very soon. LSU football defensive back target Joel Rogers has officially announced his commitment date.

Brian Kelly is about to get some much-needed clarity at the defensive back positions very soon! This afternoon, it was announced that safety Joel Rogers will make his college decision on June 12.

Rogers is listed as the No. 304 player in the country and the No. 8 player in Louisiana for the class of 2024. He’s one of the best safeties in the country and would be a major pick-up for the Tigers.

He also happens to be one of the best overall athletes in the state of Louisiana. In 2022, he logged an 11.72-second 100-meter dash, showing off some elite speed on the track.

The Tigers are by far the favorites to land Rogers’ commitment

Finding all the biggest recruiting sites agreeing on a recruit is nearly impossible. This recruitment appears to be the outlier, as most sites view LSU football as the runaway favorite to land his commitment early next week.

According to ON3, the Tigers have a 98.0 percent chance of gaining his commitment. Alabama and TCU have the next best odds, according to the site, with less than 1.0 percent each.

Then, if we look at 247 Sports, the Tigers have two crystal ball predictions for the four-star safety. At this point, no other schools have any crystal balls for him.

Joel Rogers is one of the best players in the country and a top defensive back prospect in Louisiana. If LSU can gain his commitment, he’ll be the 10th Louisiana-based recruit to commit to the Tigers for the class of 2024.
