In one year’s time, LSU football went from having a very unproven offensive line to one of the best in college football. Led by sophomores Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr, they have some elite star power. Now, they have what could be a top 10 group in the country.

LSU football has a top 10 offensive line in college football

In 2022, LSU football had very little known on the offensive line. They frequently mixed up packages, adjusting who started where, and even started two freshmen at either tackle.

Still, coaches Brian Kelly and Brad Davis stuck through and put together an impressive group by season’s end.

The two freshman offensive tackles – Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr – turned into Freshman All-Americans and were elite all year. Offensive guard Anthony Bradford would go on to be drafted by the Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Not to mention, the group helped lead the Tigers to a school-record 39 rushing touchdowns in 2022.

Looking ahead to the 2023 season, the position group should be even better. In total, they have seven offensive linemen on roster with college-level starting experience.

What that equals out to is a top-10 offensive line, which has the potential to go even higher. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), the Tigers have the No. 8 group in college football heading into 2023.

The starting lineup

When looking at what the Tigers have gained versus lost from last season, things are looking good. Offensive guard Anthony Bradford is the only significant loss along the line, as he was the Swiss army knife of last year’s team.

While replacing him won’t be easy, the Tigers already have some elite pieces that can fall in line.

The easiest starting positions to predict are either tackle spots. Sophomores Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr. will likely slide right back in at either spot. The pair were two of the best young duos in the country and will probably make lots of money in the NFL after college.

Charles Turner III will likely start at center, as he held that position for 12 of the Tigers’ games last year. In total, he recorded 811 snaps and wasn’t called for a single penalty in any of his last 10 games.

Finally, Garrett Dellinger and Miles Frazier will likely take the spots at either guard position. They each spent significant time starting for the Tigers last season, but with the flexibility of Anthony Bradford last season, this is likely the most “inexperienced” spot along the line.

LSU football is in excellent shape at offensive line heading into 2023. With the starting experience and high-end talent, they have everything they need to be one of the best in college football.
