LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers – the all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards in Tiger history – is ready to take things to the next level. In the midst of the 2024 NFL combine, the star pass catcher recently took some time to describe what he plans on bringing to his future franchise.

LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers is ready to bring “dog mentality” to the next level

When it comes to elite pass catchers ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, the Tigers are King. Both Brian Thomas Jr and Malik Nabers are near locks for the first round, and their stock only continues to rise as the draft process moves along.

Most notably, Nabers – the 2023 college football receiving yards leader – is quickly gaining traction as a potential top-five selection, with many viewing him as the No. 1 wide receiver in the class.

Notably, the talented pass catcher spoke to the media on Friday, and when asked about his thoughts on his competition, there was little to no doubt in his mind about who’s the best of the best.

“Of course,” Nabers said when asked if he views himself as the best wide receiver in the 2024 NFL draft.

“I’m able to go outside and win. I’m able to go at slot, I’m able to be moved around, create space on the linebacker. I know I carry the ball pretty good, so a different offense can move me around and still get that dog mentality.”

That “dog mentality” is something that served the LSU wide receiver very well throughout the 2023 college football season. Not only was he one of the top receivers in the country, but he was one of the top receivers on the top offense.

Led by Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Tiger offense led the country in total offense as well as total scoring offense and Nabers was a major part of it.

“I’m a dog. When that ball is in the air, it’s mine. Then when I get the ball in my hands, I’m able to do tremendous things with it, create space on different DBs, able to make explosive plays downfield, to take an eight-yard route and turn it into a touchdown.”

Over the course of his three year career, very few defenses managed to even slow down the Youngsville, LA, product. He totaled 189 receptions for 3,003 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Potential landing spots for the talented pass catcher

In terms of where the talented Malik Nabers is most likely to land, there are three teams who have emerged as real possibilities based on the latest mock drafts.

On a relatively consistent basis, Nabers is being viewed as a candidate for either the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons or Los Angeles Chargers. All three franchises are looking for big-time playmakers on the outside, and depending on who’s available, Nabers could be a top priority for each. The Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears are also be a pair to keep an eye on.

Notably, all five of the programs mentioned above have top-10 selections, with the Chargers sitting the highest at No. 5 overall.

While the LSU wide receiver opted out of measurements at this weekend’s combine, he’ll make up for it when he participates in the Tiger pro day on March 27, 2024. From there, it will all be up to the draft, as fans will be able to watch live on NFL Network, ABC and ESPN from April 25 until April 27.
