Coming off a game in which he threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has officially become the latest Tiger to earn SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the 2024 season.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier receives SEC honor after big nonconference victory over UCLA

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier waited his turn, and now he’s proving to be one of the top signal callers in the entire SEC.

Heading into week four, Nussmeier had already proven to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, and in a game in which the Tigers had a chance to prove themselves against a solid Big Ten team in UCLA, he only continued his dominant ways.

Throwing for 352 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on Saturday, Nussmeier has officially been honored as the 2024 week four SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

Sitting on a 2024 total of 1,247 yards (7th nationally), 13 touchdowns (T-2nd nationally) and just two interceptions, Nussmeier wasted no time in stepping up as the man for the job in Joe Sloan’s first season as the primary offensive coordinator for the purple and gold.

Furthermore, currently completing 70.6 percent of his passes, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound signal caller out of Lake Charles, LA, has found a way to combine pure arm talent with impressive football IQ. Keeping Nussmeier in Baton Rouge, LA, was one of the best things LSU could have done for their 2024 season, and it’s only just beginning to pay off.

Purple and gold football will return to the field this weekend, as they get set to host high-scoring South Alabama for their final nonconference matchup of the 2024 season on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The game will take place at 6:45 p.m. CST in Tiger Stadium and will be available to watch live on SEC Network.
