Coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers are officially less than 24 hours away from their final game of the regular season. As fans and players alike prepare for theĀ LSU football vs. Texas A&MĀ matchup, three players to know on the Aggie offense include Ainias Smith, Rueben Owens and Jahdae Walker.
LSU football vs. Texas A&M: Three players to know on the Aggie offense
Senior WR Ainias Smith
One of the greatest wide receivers in Aggie history will be playing in his final regular season game this weekend for LSU football vs. Texas A&M.
In five seasons, Ainias Smith has worked his way up the record boards in all departments. He currently ranksĀ fourth in receptions (172), seventh in receiving yards (2,348) and fifth in receiving touchdowns (19).
Standing at 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, Smith isnāt the most imposing presence on the football field, but his playmaking ability cannot be overstated. He has speed and shiftiness that can make any defender in the country miss.
TheĀ Tiger secondaryĀ will, without a doubt, have their hands full with this electric senior. Keep an eye out as the Aggie coaching staff looks to get him in open space.
Freshman RB Rueben Owens
Despite his youth, freshman running back Rueben Owens has some of the best talent in the entire Aggie backfield. Even more so, his potential is through the roof.
Having seen game time in all 11 games in 2023, Owens has only improved since arriving on campus. Since October 28 vs. South Carolina, the 6-foot, 200-pound freshman has accounted forĀ 51 carries, 208 yards and two touchdowns. Outside of junior Amari Daniels, these are some of the best rushing numbers on the team in that span.
With his increased usage in recent memory, look for him to play a big part of the game plan in LSU football vs. Texas A&M. While I expect them to air it out quite a bit, donāt be surprised to see him receive a bulk of carries.
Junior WR Jahdae Walker
While there were several offensive playmakers I could have put in this third slot, junior wide receiver Jahdae Walker has too much going for him to leave him out.
Standing at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, his size alone creates a mismatch not many of the Tiger defensive backs can compete with. However, his connection with potential starting quarterback Jaylen Henderson really pops out to me.
The passing game pair are roommates off the football field, giving an immediate advantage. Furthermore, heās coming off one of his best games of the year, having recordedĀ four receptions for 88 yardsĀ in the Aggie win over Abilene Christian.
Keep an eye on the former Grand Valley State stud as he looks to continue his momentum tomorrow vs. coach Brian Kellyās squad.
LSU football vs. Texas A&M is set to kickoff at 11:00 a.m. CST tomorrow in Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA. The game will also be available to watch live from home on ESPN.
