The SEC conference is packed with some of the best athletes in all of college football. To compete, coach Brian Kelly has come to the understanding that you need to recruit said athletes. With LSU football named a finalist for the No. 1 athlete in the class of 2024, Terry Bussey, Kelly is off to an excellent start.
LSU football named a finalist for No. 1 class of 2024 athlete Terry Bussey
Sometimes when you watch an athlete play football, you can just tell they’re special. That’s precisely the kind of talent class of 2024 athlete Terry Bussey possesses.
For whichever team lands his commitment, they’ll be gaining an elite talent who can do just about anything asked of him. Luckily for LSU football fans, the Tigers appear in good standing with the Timpson, TX native.
On Friday afternoon, he announced his top five schools, which included LSU football. Along with the purple and gold, Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma were each included.
The No. 15 player in the country and No. 1 athlete, according to 247 Sports, checks all of the boxes. He plays offense, defense and special teams and does each exceptionally well.
Here is what he had to say about including LSU football in his top five:
“LSU is known for producing top talent. The LSU culture in BR is strong and I think Coach Kelly is going to be a great fit and do great things for LSU!”
Bussey does everything at an elite level
Regarding three-way players, it’s hard to find athletes who are truly great at each phase. Class of 2024 athlete Terry Bussey is that and more.
On offense, he plays quarterback, running back and wide receiver. Not only does he have the ball skills, but he’s a more than capable passer. His 72 offensive touchdowns helped to make him the “Texas Sportswriters Association (TSWA) Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year” in 2022.
On defense, he might even be better, if that’s possible. This past season he recorded over 100 tackles, all while serving as a ball hawk in the defensive backfield, recording five interceptions.
As if that weren’t enough, he’s also a four-sport athlete. In his hometown of Timpson, TX, he competes in basketball, baseball, football and track and field.
As things stand, the in-state schools, Texas and Texas A&M, appear to be the favorites. Still, if coach Brian Kelly can work some magic in this recruitment, the Tigers could have an elite two-way player on their hands.
