It’s been a disappointing 2023 season thus far for LSU football. After dropping two games early on, the Tigers quickly dropped out of the AP poll top 10 and nearly fell out of the top 25. However, after two solid SEC wins in a row vs. Missouri and Auburn, coach Brian Kelly’s squad is turning things around, now ranking No. 19 in college football after week seven.
LSU football climbs back into the top 20 in latest AP poll
After a relatively disappointing start to the 2023 college football season, LSU football is beginning to turn the page.
In the last two weeks, coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers have put out two solid performances, beating Missouri and Auburn by a total score of 97-57.
In turn, after falling as low as No. 23 in the AP poll in week six, LSU football is beginning to rise back up, landing at No. 19 this week.
Heading into week one, the Tigers ranked as high as No. 5 in college football, so No. 19 isn’t exactly ideal for most fans of the program. Still, their goals remain attainable with five games left in 2023 and the SEC Championship race wide open.
After five straight weeks of SEC opponents, LSU football has a nonconference game against Army in week eight. Notably, they’ll face off against Alabama just one week later in week nine. In the meantime, coach Brian Kelly’s squad ranks in the top 20 and has moved up in the AP poll for the second week in a row.
