When it comes toĀ LSU basketball recruitingĀ under coach Matt McMahon, things seem to just keep getting better. Over the weekend, the Tigers landed their second commitment of the class of 2024, with point guard Curtis Givens III. Today, the Tigers are officially a finalist for four-star forward Billy Richmond.

LSU basketball named a finalist for four-star forward Billy Richmond

It wasnā€™t too long ago that LSU basketball recruiting didnā€™t have a single commitment in their class of 2024. The Tigers just came off a rough 14-19 first season underĀ coach Matt McMahon, and it didnā€™t seem like he was finding much success on the recruiting trail.

However, in the last month or two, heā€™s completely put those worries to bed as the Tigers are now trending for several of the top recruits in the class of 2024.

Most recently,Ā Billy Richmond, a four-star small forward out of Camden, NJ, named the purple and gold as one of his four finalists.

Richmond is one of the best small forwards in the entire class of 2024, rankingĀ No. 24 overall, according to 247 Sports. Furthermore, he ranks No. 5 at his position and No. 2 in New Jersey.

As things currently stand, LSU basketball ranks No. 18 overall in the class of 2024 with two commitments thus far. Those two commits are four-star power forward Robert Miller and four-star point guard Curtis Givens III, both of whom rank in the top 70 nationally.

While it may have taken some time for coach Matt McMahon to adjust with the Tigers, thereā€™s little doubt that the program is in good hands, at least on aĀ recruiting front.
