Not even one full week after being announced as the new first president of basketball for Reebok, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is already making waves. On Tuesday morning, the brand signed LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese for their first major NIL deal.
Shaquille O’Neal, Reebok sign LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese in NIL deal
The LSU women’s basketball season is rapidly approaching, but that hasn’t stopped star Angel Reese from making moves off the court as well.
On Tuesday morning, in his first move as president of Reebok’s basketball division, Shaquille O’Neal signed the star Tiger for an NIL deal.
While terms have yet to be released on the deal, there’s no question that all parties involved are more than excited for the move.
The big-time NIL deal has everyone excited
Angel Reese is no stranger to major NIL deals at this point. She ranks top-10 out of all college athletes with an NIL valuation of $1.7 Million. However, this Reebok deal hits a bit closer to home, with both O’Neal and Reese having attended LSU.
In a statement, the LSU women’s basketball star said, “I am honored to be working closely with one of my longtime mentors, Shaq, along with a brand that I have admired since I was just a little kid.”
She added, “It means the world to me that they trust in me to extend their legacy to a new generation.”
Shaquille O’Neal also chimed in on the significant NIL signing, saying, “There is no one making a bigger impact on the game right now than Angel Reese.”
Reese and O’Neal are two of the greatest basketball players to come through Baton Rouge.
In his three seasons with LSU basketball, Shaq quickly became one of the best players in the country. The 7-foot-1 center is a two-time SEC Player of the Year and first-team All-American.
While entering just her second season with the program, Reese has already etched her name in LSU women’s basketball history. In 2022, she was named a first-team All-American and helped lead her team to the program’s first national championship.
